Week of 4/27/15

The field trip was great!  Thank you to all of the parents that were able to chaperone!  We really appreciate it!

The students are working on fables, folk tales and myths.  They are "Arachne," "Why the Tortoise's Shell is Not Smooth" and "He Lion, Bruh Bear and Bruh Rabbit."  The test will be on Tuesday,
 May 5th.

Week of 4/6/15

We are very busy prepping for the PSSA tests next week.  The students will have a test on prefixes and suffixes on Friday, April 10th.  The PSSA tests are next week on Tuesday (14th), Wednesday (15th) and Thursday (16th).  They will also be the following week on Tuesday (21st), Wednesday (22nd) and Thursday (23rd).  Please make sure your child has plenty of rest and has a good breakfast.  Please encourage them to do their very BEST!

Week of 3/30/15

The students will have a comprehension test on Tuesday, March 31st.  The fables and folk tales are "The Tiger Who Would be King," The Ant and the Dove," "The Lion and the Bulls" and "A Crippled Boy."  They will have a test on the PSSA terms on Wednesday, April 1st.  If they study the twenty terms, it should be an easy 100%.We will be working on prepping for the PSSA test on Wednesday and Thursday.

Week of 3/23/15

The students will have a test on the two poems "Oranges" and "Ode to Family Photographs" on Monday.  They will start Folk Literature - Unit 6 on Tuesday.  We will be working on "The tiger Who Would be King," "The Ant and the Dove," "The Lion and the Bulls" and "A Crippled Boy."  The focus comprehension skills are cause/effect, fables and folk tales.   The test for the fables and folk tales will be on Tuesday, March 31st.   The students are getting a new PSSA terms sheet on Monday, March 23rd.  The test on the terms will be on Wednesday, April 1st.

Week of 3/16/15

The students will be starting a new Unit on Poetry.  The focus comprehension skills are tone, rhymes and free verse.  They will have a test on "Oranges" and "Ode to Family Photographs" on Friday, March 20th. 

On Wednesday, March 18th they will have a test on the PSSA/Common Core terms.  They received the list  last week.  Make sure they study.

Week of 3/9/15

The students will have a comprehension test on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.  The skills are drawing conclusions, compare /contrast organization, theme and author's style.  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we will be working on PSSA/Common Core reviews.  The test for the new terms will be on Tuesday, March 17th.

Week of 3/2/15

The students will be receiving new common core terms on Monday.  We will be working on PSSA/Common Core terms all week.  They will have a test on these terms on Tuesday, March 10th.  On Tuesday, March 3rd, we will be reviewing our comprehension skills.  We will have a test on Wednesday, March 4th.  The comprehension skills are drawing conclusions, compare/contrast, theme and comparing author's style.  Thursday and Friday we will be working on PSSA/Common Core words/skills.
