Week of 1/28/13

The students will be working on the story "Jackie Robinson: Justice at Last."  Our focus comprehension skills are author's purpose and expository essay.  They will have a test on Thursday, the 31st.   The students should be studying the prefix and suffix paper.  We will have that test on Friday, February 1st.  Have a great week!

Week of 1/21/13

We will be starting a new story on Monday.  It is called "Water."  It is about Helen Keller.  Our focus comprehension skills are author's purpose and autobiographical essay.  Report cards will go home on Wednesday the 23rd.  We will be working on similes and metaphors on Friday.  Stay warm!  Have a great week!

Week of 1/7/13

The students will be reviewing the comprehension skills from Unit 2 on Monday. (making inferences, text aids and features, direct and indirect characterization and internal and external conflict)  They will have a test on these skills on Tuesday.  We will be reviewing vocabulary in contest, characterization and other comprehension skills on Wednesday.  They will have a test on vocabulary in context and characterization on Thursday.  They will have to write 25 character traits for the test.  They should study their list.  We will start Unit 3 on Friday.  The new story is called "Zlata's Diary."  Have a great week!

Week of 1/2/13

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday.  On Wednesday, the students will be writing about their holiday and working on characterization skills.  On Thursday, they will be taking the Dibels test during reading class.  On Friday they will be working on comprehension skills.  Have a great week!
