Week of 11/ 28/11

I hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving!!! We are starting a new story called "Aaron's Gift." Our comprehension skills are drawing conclusions and the setting of the story. The test on this story will be on Monday, December 5th. We are also reading the novel "Number the Stars." Don't forget that the students need 10 accelerated reading points for the marking period. Week of 11/21/11

On Monday the sixth grade reading classes will be following directions. They will be making a Thanksgiving treat. The best part is eating it when they are finished. On Tuesday, we will continue to read our novel "Number the Stars." The students will be getting out early on Wednesday the 23rd. Dismissal will be at 11:45 a.m. No school - Thursday, Friday and Monday. I will see the students again on Tuesday, November 29th. I hope everyone has a terrific Thanksgiving!!!

Week of 11/14/11

The students are working a story called "The All American Slurp." On Tuesday, they will have DARE during reading class. We are also working on a novel called "Number the Stars." When we finish, they can use this for accelerated reader points. They will have a comprehension test on "The All American Slurp" on Thursday, November 17th. Have a great week!

Week of 11/7/11

On Monday we will be starting a novel called "Number the Stars." When we are finished, the students can use this book towards accelerated reader points. Each child needs to get 10 points per marking period. This will count as a grade in reading class. On Tuesday we are doing PSSA practice in our books p. 241 - 248. Tuesday is make-up day for pictures. On Wednesday we will be starting a new story called "The All American Slurp." Friday is an Act 80 day. No school for students. Have a great week!

Week of 10/31/11

The students are reading a story called "Zlateh the Goat." Our comprehension skills are making inferences and internal and external conflict. They will have a test on the story on Friday, November 4th. Report cards go home on Friday, November 4th. Have a great week!
