We are working on the poetry unit.  The students will have a test on "Oranges" and "Ode to Family Photographs" on Wednesday, March 23rd. 

No school on Friday, March 25th.

Week of 3/14/16

The students will have a figurative language terms test on Monday, March 14th.  They will have a figurative language test and a test on personification/onomatopoeia/alliteration on Wednesday, March 16th.  We will start Unit 4 - poetry on Thursday.  The first two poems are "Oranges" and "Ode to Family Photos."

Update

The Figurative Language terms test will  be on Monday, March 14th.  They received these terms either Monday or Tuesday.

Week of 3/7/16

We are starting a unit on figurative language.  The terms we will be learning are similes, metaphors, personification, hyperboles, alliteration, onomatopoeia and idioms.  They will have a terms test on Friday, March 11th.  Make sure your child studies the terms and definitions.  The test on the application of the skills will be on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Week of 2/29/16

On Monday they were finishing their ACES paper.  Tuesday they will be reviewing the comprehension skills - drawing conclusions, compare/contrast, theme and comparing author's style.  They will have a test on these skills on Wednesday.  We will review the PSSA terms on Thursday using a game.  They will have a test on the PSSA terms on Friday.  Please make sure they study.

Week of 2/22/16

The students will have a test on "The Pigman and Me" on Wednesday, February 24th.  We will be working on Text Dependent Analysis (TDA) for the next 5 school days.  It is using the information from what you read to write an answer to a question.  they also received a new PSSA terms paper.  Have your child study it.  They will have a test on these terms next week.

Week of 2/17/16

The students are finishing their test on "Langston Terrace" on Wednesday.  We will start a new story called "Pigman and Me" on Thursday.  The focus comprehension skills are main idea and mood.  The test for this story will be on Wednesday, February 24th.
